Take a look and see what I mean.
Those negative images can be used in creative ways. I made something fun today that I’d like to share. (Thank you to paulinespapier for the inspiration.) I find it hard to use the yellow tones some days, but I’m really happy how this turned out! The card is actually a flip card with 3 separate layers.
Each layer shows all three colors in the color combo I chose – Bumblebee (a new InColor), Smoky Slate, and the yellow/orange tones in the amazing Plaid Tidings DSP pack.
I was going to punch two holes in the top, but I’m glad I stopped myself! This way is waaayyy cuter!! I simply ran a 16″ piece of linen thread through the last layer and tied a knot at the top. Now the recipient can have the option of hanging this card on a door knob or hook
Of course a pretty card deserves a pretty package so I made a pocket from one of our medium Whisper White envelopes. I simply slit one end of it open first and then sealed the envelope. Now it becomes a pocket. It looked a bit too plain for my liking so I ran it through my new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine (which I absolutely LOVE!!) with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.
There are a few more details I added to complete this project. I am going to try and do a short video in the next couple of days showing how I made these projects. So you can check back later.

A few steps:
1. Start with a 3-1/2″ square piece of watercolor paper. I masked off 1/4″ all around the edge using post-it notes. Our grid paper comes in very handy…each square is 1/4″!
2. Now sponge Soft Suede ink around the edges. Just make sure you sponge off a bit of ink onto your grid sheet first. Come at it from the edges so it’s not so dark as soon as you put your sponge down. Does that make sense? Start light. You can always add more. Once you’re happy with how it looks, you can remove the post-it notes. You will be surprised at how lovely it looks with a border around the edge.

3. Take your leaf stamp and ink it up with our new Bumblebee ink. Flip it over and sponge some Cajun Craze and Soft Suede right onto the stamp. Give it a little “huff” and then stamp it onto your watercolor square. I stamped mine over to the left side so I would have enough room for my sentiment. You might even want to stamp your greeting first so you know how much room you have.

4. Your leaf will look quite light and washed out. But now the magic starts! Take a water painter (aka aquapainter) and begin to blend the colors on your stamped image. I even dabbed on some extra ink from the lid of my stamp pads to darken it up a bit. Play around with it. It will look different each time.

5. Let it dry…and if you’re inpatient like me, you can heat set it with your embossing tool. Now center the stitched leaf die over your leaf and run it through your die-cutting machine. It will give it that beautiful stitched detail.

6. Finally, die-cut your finished piece using our layering square dies. I used the largest square which is 3″.

7. Finishing touches…off-set it a bit and pop up the middle with dimensionals. Tie a gold bow and attach with glue dots. Voila!

Take a closer look at the Mint Macaron strip on the card. I used that stitched line die that comes in that set (Stitched Leaves Dies). It almost looks like patterned paper. So cool. I did use a small piece of striped DSP from the Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP pack to die-cut one of the leaves.

It has quite a bit of dimension on it, so if you mail this you I would suggest that you add some padding by way of an extra piece of cardstock or even a layer of tissue paper to protect the embellishments…and it will be extra postage as well. Thankfully, this one isn’t going in the mail:)

I also had a gift bag that needed a tag today, so I whipped up this super simple tag with some of the leftover leaves on my desk. I added a little bit shimmer with our new Elegant Faceted Gems. I hope you like it.

Are you thinking about it?
Do you have a few friends that like to papercraft as well? When I purchased my starter kit, I had been getting together with friends to make cards. Just a girls night here and there…or at a weekend retreat…I envisioned that I would sign up and then they could get all their supplies from me. In turn, I would make a little bit of money.

So that’s what I did. And then THEY told people that they knew to order from me.  And so it began. Friends help friends along the journey. You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. I’m here to tell you that you will LOVE our Stampin’ Blends. These high-quality, dual-tip markers in Stampin’ Up! exclusive colours will open a whole new world of colouring creativity for you. I promise.
I must admit that I am a sucker for Rifle Co. prints. I have a calendar, plenty of notebooks, and I absolutely love the color combinations in their artwork. I recently received this lovely notecard from a dear friend and knew I had to make a copy of it! So I pulled out my Stampin’ Blends yesterday and set to work. I scribbled a bunch of the colours that I thought would be a match.
Next I pulled out the brand new Ornate Style stamp set that will be in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. That floral bouquet was perfect!
After I finished coloring, I hand-cut all around the edge of the image staying as close as I could to the black outline. I was then left with the white spots in the middle. I could’ve taken my exacto knife and painfully cut all those little bits out, but that’s way too much work – even for ME! LOL! So here’s a tip. Because this bouquet was going onto black cardstock, I took my dark Basic Black Blends and just colored in those spots!
What do you think? I did it!! I’m pretty happy with the outcome…

It has been a while since I have posted anything, and that’s simply because I have been going places! The last 6 months have brought many changes to our family. Our second daughter Samantha moved to Australia, our oldest daughter had a baby boy (making us grandparents for the first time), and Edgar and I traveled across the world to go visit Samantha and her husband Richie (a super big achievement for this mama who doesn’t like to fly). And this weekend, our “baby” Aaron just turned 20! Honestly, it’s sometimes a lot to process.

Here is an updated picture of Huxley Gordon who just turned 3 months. The happiest baby you will ever meet.We recently returned home from our visit with Samantha and Richie.
