Here is a fun technique you can try using the reverse image of the large die.
I simply laid the die cut piece on top of a white mat and used my blending brushes and 2 ink colors to create a subtle background for my card.  For this card I used Mint Macaron and Misty Moonlight.

Here are 2 other color combos…Blushing Bride and Flirty Flamingo.
And So Saffron and Mango Melody…

 I have a couple of helpful tips for you when putting this kit together…

1.  Always try and hide your adhesive when using vellum. So on the gold polka dot piece, you can put the adhesive dots behind a few gold dots and you won’t be able to see them from the front. On the plain vellum piece, you’ll have to put adhesive dots more in the center so they will be hidden behind your label element on the front. Does that sense?

2.  Build all your elements together before putting them on the card. So on the Coastal Cabana card for example, you will put your leaves on top of the navy oval with adhesive dots, add your twine bow behind the navy oval, and add the flower die-cut with dimensionals and THEN put the whole piece on your card.

3.  The twine bow will be a little bulky, so only put dimensionals towards the top of your element to balance out the height of your piece.

The cards are really quite simple to put together, but I found those few things were important to pass on to you. I hope you find that helpful.

First off, if you are a club member (which simply means you belong to a group that meets once a month all year long), you get early VIP access. These ladies get to shop the retired product room in the morning. Isn’t that incentive enough to sign up for a club?!

My husband spoiled everyone once again with yummy treats from the kitchen. This year was Vietnamese iced coffees and homemade doughnuts!
A labor of love, and oh so worth it!
Everyone who came received a little thank you gift…a Daisy Flower Packet.
And after they shopped, they went downstairs to the Stampin’ Room to make 2 cards. This first one features the new Happy Birthday Thinlit and the coordinating Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set. The new Adhesive Sheets makes adhering this detailed greeting a breeze.
This second one uses the new Colorful Seasons bundle. Don’t you just LOVE that chair?!
To create the circle background, I took a piece of very thin paper (photocopy paper works well) and die-cut a circle out of the middle. I placed it onto my cardstock piece and stamped the Watercolor Wash Background over the circular opening. When I removed the template, it created this beautiful backdrop for the chair. I think I’ll be making a few of these this summer.

I wanted to share the club projects we did in September:

The gingerbread men are my favorite. The centre splotch is from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (stamped twice) and the greeting is from the Stitched with Cheer stamp set.The bundle includes the punch. Turn it upside down and it punches the reindeer shape out!
And the Cookie Cutter Bundle is not just for Christmas. Check out this adorable baby bear card.
Then we used the coordinating Halloween set to make this cute banner.
The gingerbread men were also the star of our World Card Making Day! Each participant received these decorated chocolates…and their pinecone packages…

Some of my favorite paper in last year’s catalogue  was the gold foil vellum designer paper. It came with gold embossed polka dots, stripes, and hearts.  Sadly, this paper is no longer available but I am going to show you how to make your own embossed striped background today.

The supplies you will need are as follows:
Vellum Cardstock (#101856) $10 – I used Whisper White in this sample
Tear & Tape Adhesive (#138995) $9.00
Embossing Buddy (#103083) $8.00
Embossing Powder – I used the new Copper Embossing Powder (141636) $6.75
Heat Tool (#129053) $40

Step One
Place your tear tape diagonally across your piece of cardstock.
Trim edges with a pair of paper snips.

Step Two
Gently swipe the embossing buddy over the entire piece of cardstock.

Step Three
Peel off the paper backing on all of the strips.

Step Four
Sprinkle embossing powder all over. Tap excess off into a tray. Heat emboss.

It’s that easy.

So back to the stamp set. I have 2 quick and easy cards to share with you today…ones that you can mass produce in a little amount of time. And they would definitely put a smile on the recipient’s face.  They both have pieces of the coordinating Designer Series Paper (DSP) on them (Affectionately Yours #141632), but this first one features the stamp set… The second one features the new coordinating embossing folders (Floral Affection #141713)…I have a third card to share with you, but I will keep it a secret until Tuesday. I will be staring a small series of Techniques that I will be posting on Tuesdays only. It will be called Technique Tuesday. So stay tuned. You won’t want to miss this first great tip!

Okay…onto the projects! As I mentioned last time, Sherry Roth did the afternoon class at our event and prepped these 4 projects for us. They all featured the Sunburst Thinlits Die.

Card #1
We used the Sunburst Thinlits Die as a template to trace with a black marker.Card #2
We cut a sunburst out of cardstock, placed it onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and sponged between the rays with long strokes starting in the middle so it went from darker to lighter. The clouds were punched out using the Tree Builder Punch (#138295).Card #3
The Sunburst Thinlits Die used as a sunflower:) We sponged the rays to give it more dimension and embossed the Early Espresso circle with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (#133520). The leaf was from the Leaflets Framelits (#138283) and the Celebrate Today was die-cut using the PL Life Cards & Labels Framelits (#135707).Card #4
This was probably the most challenging card, but I love it! We started with a piece of Watercolor Paper, wet it generously using a clean Aqua Painter. Then we used a few different colors of reinkers in the lids of the stamp pads to dip into (with the Aqua Painter) and worked from the middle out. It didn’t look very pretty…until we cut it out with the Sunburst Thinlits Die. Then look! We stamped random dots from Timeless Textures with White Craft Ink onto the Basic Black Cardstock and adhered the sunburst once the Watercolor Paper had dried.I hope you enjoy your last day of the long weekend!

Saturday was a little more challenging however, because our middle daughter was running a case competition at the U of A and my husband has been flat on his back now for 3 weeks with back/nerve pain. So our son Aaron was loaded with a lot of extra responsibilities. He really stepped up to the plate and did an awesome job setting up, running video/sound, doing the lunch run, and tearing down! I also enlisted the help of his girlfriend Kayla to run registration and prize patrol… and my mom helped with clean up. I seriously couldn’t have done the day without them!

Here are a few pics of the set up… I found this door post and sign at a Vintage Market here in Edmonton a couple of weekends ago. I LOVE it!!Registration table…Stamp Cafe was die-cut from fabric pieces and glued onto vanilla cardstock circles and then adhered to our kraft bags.

MORNING CLASS
The morning class was projects featuring the Have a Cuppa Suite in the Occasions Catalogue.  And the Easter bunnies…just because:)Images glued onto embroidery hoops…My mom’s vintage tea set…Here were the projects:

Card #1 (cased from Becky Roberts)…Card #2 (cased from Sarah Sagert)…Card #3 (cased from Becky Roberts)…and Gift Card Holder (design by Patty Bennett)…I’ll share the afternoon Sunburst Class cards tomorrow!
