Fall Plaids and Pretty Packages

Whenever you’re using dies…especially these pretty fall stitched ones…remember to maximize the value of your set by using the positive and negative portions of the dies.

Take a look and see what I mean.
Love-of-Leaves-stitched-diesThose negative images can be used in creative ways. I made something fun today that I’d like to share. (Thank you to paulinespapier for the inspiration.)Love-of-Leaves-5a I find it hard to use the yellow tones some days, but I’m really happy how this turned out! The card is actually a flip card with 3 separate layers.
Love-of-Leaves-5bEach layer shows all three colors in the color combo I chose – Bumblebee (a new InColor), Smoky Slate, and the yellow/orange tones in the amazing Plaid Tidings DSP pack.
Love-of-Leaves-5cI was going to punch two holes in the top, but I’m glad I stopped myself! This way is waaayyy cuter!! I simply ran a 16″ piece of linen thread through the last layer and tied a knot at the top. Now the recipient can have the option of hanging this card on a door knob or hook :)
Love-of-Leaves-5dOf course a pretty card deserves a pretty package so I made a pocket from one of our medium Whisper White envelopes. I simply slit one end of it open first and then sealed the envelope. Now it becomes a pocket. It looked a bit too plain for my liking so I ran it through my new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine (which I absolutely LOVE!!) with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.
Love-of-Leaves-5There are a few more details I added to complete this project. I am going to try and do a short video in the next couple of days showing how I made these projects. So you can check back later.

Creative Christmas Ideas

It’s time to start making that list…and coming up with some creative Christmas gift ideas this year. I thought I’d help you out my sharing two of the projects we made in our annual Creative Christmas Class last week.

#1
Stampin’ Up! has these really great Acetate Card Boxes this holiday season. They are clear card boxes that neatly and safely store your finished cards. Each box holds 5 standard cards plus envelopes and you get 10 boxes in a package.
Acetate-Boxes-ImageWhat other things can you put there besides cards? Hmmm…the themes are endless.

We wrapped Ghirardelli Chocolates and decorated the box like this!
(Original idea from Patti Bennett.)
Acetate-Boxes-1And 9 rolled wafers fit in one box. (I buy the Pirouline Chocolate Hazelnut Wafers in a big cannister from Costco.) Don’t they look yummy?!
Acetate-Boxes-2We also sell these adorable treat tubes…
Acetate-Boxes-38 of them fit sideways in the Acetate Box. How fun is that?
#144628 Acetate Card Boxes  $8.50 (10 boxes)
#144612 Treat Tubes $6.50 (12 plastic tubes and cork stoppers)

#2
This is probably the most inexpensive, yet very practical, gift you can give this year. It is a small notebook made from 1 piece of Designer Series Paper and a few sheets of photocopy paper. That’s it!
DSP bookletYou can use your favorite papers to create a million different notebooks. Simply fold each piece in half and use your bone folder to make it really nice and flat.

Here are the measurements for this one, but you can make them any size you want. Just make sure that the photocopy paper is about 1/8″ smaller than your cover.
Cover: 8-1/2″ x 8-1/4″
Photocopy Paper: 5 pieces cut at 8-3/8″ x 8-1/8″

Decorate the front however you like. I just love this saying from the Just Add Text stamp set (#143931) in the Annual Catalogue. I cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits…which I also love!

Remember the Designer Series Paper Sale ends October 31st…Buy 3 get 1 free! You might need to stock up if you are going to make some fun notebooks.

If you are placing an online order this weekend, please use Hostess Code F3F76PWZ when you check out. You can place your order HERE.

Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks for stopping by!
