Back of a Bike

The men in our house like to ride dual sport bikes. They started this several years ago, and it has become their favorite thing to do. So when the topic of renting bikes on the island came up, that’s all my son needed to hear. He in fact made the decision to forgo his graduation ceremony to ride bikes with my husband in Oahu! I was somewhat shocked at his decision, but his response was…”Mom, you don’t understand.” Clearly not. Apparently, when it comes to biking, the answer is always YES!

So…I spent 2-1/2 days on the back of a Harley. Yep…it’s true. We are NOT fans of Harleys, but that’s what is primarily available in Hawaii.

Bike-Day

I’ve never ridden in shorts and a tank top before…nor with a half helmet…so this was a new experience. Oh the joys of riding all day without bugs hitting your face! Driving through periods of rain showers were not fun though. Besides getting wet and cold, it hurt.

One morning we drove to Leonard’s Bakery. Oh…my…goodness!! There are no words!!

They advertise FRESH Malasadas …a Malasada is a Portuguese doughnut without a hole. I ordered a Haupia Malasada (coconut cream filled), and there was probably a 1/4 cup of cream inside. No joke! It was heavy!!

It was delicious!!

Then we drove from one end of the island to the other. Beautiful flowers like these lined the entrances to homes…

On the west side, we saw wind surfers! Those guys are crazy fit. I was tired just watching them.

And on the east side, we saw parasailers.

Glorious scenery…glorious day. One thing’s for sure…all that fresh air sure helps you fall asleep fast at night!

The Stampin’ Up! Royal Treatment

It has been an amazing week to say the least. I’ve taken a bit of a technology break to enjoy and relax…so you’ll have a few days of highlights now.

We work hard all year to earn an incentive trip with Stampin’ Up! Once we get here, we remember why. We are spoiled and treated to some wonderful experiences. And everything is times two! The achieving demonstrator and one guest. We always have the opportunity to pay for more to join us…so this year, Aaron was able to join us.

Welcome

The view from our room was breathtaking! We were able to watch the surfers from up here.

Every night we returned to our room…and there were pillow gifts!! Look at the haul from the week! This pile includes prizes as well from spinning the wheel in the hospitality room each day. Thank you Stampin’ Up!

The North Shore

I haven’t posted for several days, but we arrived safely in Oahu and have been thoroughly enjoying our time on the island!

We spent the first three days at the North Shore…it’s a lot quieter up there and we enjoyed being among the locals. Food trucks are a big thing on the island, and upon recommendations from Trip Advisor, we have tried 2. Delicious shrimp and fish!!

And of course there are frequent stops  for iced coffees!!

And fresh fruit…
