Fun Fold Card – Arrow Fold

Today I have a fun fold card idea for you. My friend and fellow team member Lorna Raczynski created her take on an arrow fold card. My Stamp Club ladies were lucky enough to make one at their class this past week and they all loved it!
Love-of-Leaves-7Again…I’m just loving the fall colors. I’ll talk a bit about the product she used, but first let me show you how to make an Arrow Card. This is what it looks like on the inside.
Love-of-Leaves-7aCut a card base (5-1/2″ x 8″1/2″ …scored at 4-1/4″). Grab a pencil and a ruler and follow this template. Mark the center point of your card front (2-3/4″) and score from the middle score line on each side to that point. Then, measure 2″ up from each side, and score to that same point. Erase your pencil marks and fold along those lines.  Use a bone folder to really sharpen the creases.
Love-of-Leaves-7bFor the colored mat, cut a piece of cardstock 4″ x 5″.  Mark the center of that (2-1/2″) and this time cut from each corner down to that point. Love-of-Leaves-7dThose 3 pieces will now fit perfectly on the front of your card. (sorry…this photo is a bit blurry.)
Love-of-Leaves-7cIt’s that easy. Now you just decorate the rest of your Arrow Fold card.

Lots of Snuggles

Hello FebruaryWe are SO in love with this little man…seriously. My husband and other daughter arrived last night and they finally got to meet Huxley. We are each making sure we get our snuggles in.
Huxley Gordon 4He is 1 week old and we already cannot imagine our lives without him. Welcome to the family sweet Huxley Gordon.

Yesterday I showed you the decorative corner card…they also made a criss-cross card.Lift-Me-Up-4This is a super fun fold with a pull-out message. My team member Lorna Raczynski made a bunch of samples for our display boards in Toronto…this was one of them. I love the message.
Lift-Me-Up-5Here are the instructions on how to make a criss-cross card. You’ll notice that the coordinating Carried Away DSP is also used on this card.

Criss-Cross Card:

Supplies:           Two 4-1/4” x 11” pieces of cardstock (for your card base)
One 4” x 5” piece of patterned paper
One 3-3/4” x 5” piece of coordinating cardstock (for insert)
One 3-5/8”x 4-7/8” piece of neutral cardstock to stamp on (for insert)

Step 1:   Score both 4-1/4” x 11” pieces of cardstock at 5-1/2”.

Step 2:   Take one scored piece and cut it diagonally from centre top to the bottom left.

Step 3:   Take the other piece of scored cardstock and cut it diagonally from the centre top to the bottom right.

Step 4:   Tape both pieces together (using Fast Fuse or Tear & Tape). Make sure both long edges of the diagonal sections are on the bottom.

Step 5:   Cut the patterned paper in half diagonally and adhere them to your card front.

Step 6:   Tape the card base together using Tear & Tape.

Step 7:   Stamp on inside neutral piece and adhere to solid piece for insert. Slide it in.

Lift Me Up

One of my favorite stamp sets in the Occasions Catalogue is Lift Me Up. My club members got to play with this bundle in their January card club.

They learned how to make a Decorative Corner Card…
Lift-Me-Up-1It has 4 panels and is super easy to make…it looks harder than it is. The base cardstock piece is Smoky Slate, the first mat is Night of Navy , and then I cut mats from the Carried Away DSP (one of the FREE Sale-a-bration offerings).Lift-Me-Up-3I used the 4th panel as my greeting space… a place to write a personal message. If it’s around the back, you won’t see it when the card is displayed.
Lift-Me-Up-2Follow these simple steps to make this type of card:

Decorative Corner Card

Supplies:           One 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” piece of cardstock (for your card base)
One 1” x 5-1/2” piece of same color cardstock (for the seam)
Two 1” punched circles of same color cardstock
Four 1-7/8” x 5-1/4” pieces of coordinating cardstock (for panels)
Four 1-5/8” x 5” pieces of patterned paper (for panels)

Step 1:   Score the 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” piece of cardstock at 2-1/8”, 4-1/4”, and 6-3/8” to make 4 equal panels. Make mountain folds on each of the score lines so they are all folded up towards you.

Step 2:   Score the 1” x 5-1/2” down the middle at ½”.

Step 3:   Decorate the panels as desired.

Step 4:   Glue the 1” x 5-1/2” piece along the sides to form your cube. Make sure it is on the inside so you don’t see it.

Step 5:   For the front, take the two 1” circles, fold them in half, and glue them to the centre fold of the base…then glue the focal point to those circles.
